Description
2N2222 NPN Transistor has a gain value of 110 and a collector current of 600mA. The 2N2218, 2N2219, 2N2221, and 2N2222 are silicon planar epitaxial NPN transistors in Jedec TO-39 (for 2N2218 and 2N2219) and Jedec TO-18 (for 2N2221 and 2N2222) metal cases. They are designed for high-speed switching applications at collector currents up to 500 mA and feature useful current gain over a wide range of collector currents, low leakage currents, and low saturation voltages.

What is a 2N2222 NPN Transistor?
The 2N222 bipolar junction transistor (BJT) is a popular negative-positive-negative (NPN) bipolar junction transistor (BJT) used in a variety of electrical devices. It’s utilized for both amplification and switching of analog signals. The 2N2222 transistor’s functional components are housed in a TO-18 package, which looks like a tiny metal can. The 2N2222 transistor and its derivatives are the most extensively used transistors in electronics due to their wide variety of applications and compact size.
The NPN BJT construction of the 2N2222 transistor is what makes it work. In a process known as “doping,” the 2N2222 transistor is constructed of either germanium or silicon that has been saturated with either a positively or negatively altered substance. A positively charged segment is wedged between two negatively charged parts of the 2N2222. The name “bipolar junction transistor” comes from the two connections between the three portions that arise. Because the materials are organized in the order negative, positive, negative, and negative, the device is also known as an NPN transistor.
The collector, emitter, and base are the three wire leads needed to solder the 2N2222 to circuit boards. When an electrical signal is present at the transistor’s collector, a signal is emitted from the device’s emitter when a signal is applied to the transistor’s base. The 2N2222 is frequently used to turn signals on and off in this manner.
